CSET wrapped up the summer exploring summer camps in the United States that focus on artificial intelligence. We also released two new Data Snapshots on research areas related to AI. Our experts assessed China’s robotics patents and advancements, its STEM Ph.D. growth and the Sino-Russian partnership to understand how these factors could undermine U.S. strategic interests. We then pivoted to Southeast Asia to take a closer look at Indonesia’s AI capabilities and how the United States and China are tapping into Indonesia’s AI promise. And this month, we looked at the U.S. Department of Defense’s AI Strategy as a military AI toolbox and recommended ways to implement an ethical military AI strategy.
