Toner emphasized the need to avoid misconceptions about China’s overall superiority in AI, stating, “Still, recent advancements shouldn’t be conflated with China having an edge in AI overall.” Toner added, “I think it’s also very possible to overestimate them. Are they a serious competitor? Yes. Are they eating our lunch? No.”
