CSET’s Matthias Oschinski provided his expert insights in article by Forbes about the recent economic trends in the United States following the Covid-19 recession and sheds light on potential challenges and opportunities.
Despite a strong rebound with a 5.4% growth since the pandemic, the U.S. economy’s 2022 growth of 1.9% falls below G20 and OECD averages, influenced by inflationary pressures, monetary policy changes, and external factors like the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
In discussing the critical role of policymakers in shaping the integration of AI, Oschinski states, “Policymakers need to find the right balance in regulations to safeguard the labor force while encouraging innovation. We have seen steps taken by the White House to address AI’s impact on the labor market. Still, governments need to level the playing field so businesses of all sizes can adopt generative AI and workers are equipped for tomorrow’s jobs.”
