Matthew Burtell

Horizon Junior Fellow Print Bio

Matthew Burtell is a Horizon Junior Fellow at the Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET), working on the Foundational Research Grants team. He graduated from Yale in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics. As an undergraduate student, he worked as a Machine Learning research assistant in a Natural Language Processing lab and also contributed to deep learning scaling law research. Prior to Yale, Matt served in the US Navy on board the USS Ronald Reagan, where he worked as a network administrator.
