CSET’s Heather Frase provided her expert analysis to GovCio in an article that delves into the recent artificial intelligence (AI) executive order issued by the White House, aiming to address the risks posed by AI to national security, IT systems, and economic security.
In an emailed statement to GovCIO Media and Research, Frase stated, “If the White House and Executive branch achieve even half of the provisions, it will be a vital step forward to safeguard AI.” She emphasized the importance of not only developing domestic standards and protections but also ensuring that allies and other countries worldwide adopt similar norms for interoperability and the benefits of AI. Frase expressed hope that international efforts, such as the UK AI Summit and the G7, will continue the momentum initiated by the executive order.
