In a recent episode of The Lawfare Podcast, which explores the use of autonomous and AI-enabled weapons in warfare, Lauren Kahn, a Senior Research Analyst at CSET, provides her expert take.
In regards to autonomous and AI-enabled and their uses, Kahn states, “There are autonomous and AI-enabled systems being developed. There’s a lot of autonomous vehicles, a lot of drones that are increasingly capable that are able to fly or accompany and collaborate with human pilots, things like that. And there are, you know AI tools that are being used in sensing, in ISR, in targeting, and across a variety of spectrums. She added, “But I think it’s important to again talk about these systems more in the context in which they’re being used because they are so widely varied. And again, these systems might not be military systems themselves, but they might be commercial and they may be translated into a military kind of context or application.”
