Regarding the amount of US funding in key tech sectors in China, Luong states, “Even with publicly available information, it’s difficult to be precise.” She further elaborates, “We lack visibility into the exact amount of US investment in China.” The article also referenced a report co-authored by Luong, which uses publicly available information to identify the main U.S. investors active in the Chinese artificial intelligence market and the set of AI companies in China that have benefitted from U.S. capital.
