CSET’s Sam Bresnick and Emmy Probasco shared their expert analysis in an op-ed published by Breaking Defense. In their piece, they discussed the involvement of US tech giants in conflicts, such as the Russia-Ukraine war, and raise important questions about their role and potential entanglements in future conflicts, particularly those involving Taiwan.

Bresnick and Probasco emphasize the potential challenges posed by deep economic ties to China, noting, “Several of the companies that came to Ukraine’s defense have much deeper economic ties to China than they did to Russia, and those connections could expose them to Chinese coercion.”

They also cite their recent report, ‘Which Ties Will Bind?‘, which seeks to trace and analyze the complex financial and economic linkages that leading U.S. tech companies supporting Ukraine have with China.
