CSET’s Emily S. Weinstein shared her expertise in an article published by The Wall Street Journal that discusses the case of a former Samsung Electronics executive who has been accused of leaking sensitive technology to build a chip factory in China.
Weinstein emphasized the broader implications of the case, stating, “This case will raise alarm bells beyond South Korea.”She added, “Managing the movement of talent and knowledge is much harder than controlling the flow of actual products through export controls.” Furthermore, she highlighted the evolving landscape, noting, “As technologies have become more difficult to steal or acquire from abroad, the Chinese government has and will likely continue to redouble its efforts to lure talent to China instead”
