CSET started a busy July with a close look into the construction of China’s National Cybersecurity Center and created an interactive map to explore the grounds. We also released two new Data Snapshots of our Map of Science. Our experts looked at AI’s role in the U.S.-China power competition, and how the United States can leverage its own technological developments. To bolster the benefits of AI and ML, our experts analyzed the U.S. Department of Defense’s use of innovative technology and how the United States can strengthen its AI and cyber curricula. But despite AI’s many benefits, it can also have damaging effects. We assessed different potential AI accidents and offered policy actions to reduce risk and enforce safety measures.
