In January 2025, Executive Order (EO) 14179 “Removing Barriers to American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence” directed the administration to release an Artificial Intelligence Action Plan. That plan, “Winning the Race: America’s AI Action Plan,” was released on July 31, 2025.
CSET researchers have analyzed the EO and subsequent Action Plan meticulously, identifying critical provisions and listing questions for further investigation. To streamline our analysis and facilitate broader understanding, we created a tracker of all of the key provisions. We are sharing this tracker to assist those interested in the Action Plan or working in related fields.
N.B. The tables below are updated periodically. You may need to hard refresh (Ctrl/Command + Shift + R) this page to see updated content.
Provision and Timeline Tracker
The tracker, based on a detailed examination of the full text of the Action Plan, outlines:
- Who is Responsible? — The key roles responsible for implementation
- With Support from? — The supporting organizations
- Type of Action — The types of actions agencies should take
