CSET Research Fellow, Sam Bresnick, provided his expert insights in Politico’s China Watcher newsletter. The newsletter discusses Putin’s visit to China to strengthen relations amid international pressure and challenges in U.S.-China cooperation on artificial intelligence. Regarding the differing approaches to AI risk management between the U.S. and China, Bresnick states, “There’s a lot of concern about China being a little bit more loosie-goosie with risk than the U.S. … and that China would be more willing to use untrustworthy or improperly tested AI systems.”
