Washington’s famous cherry blossoms are out, and CSET research is hitting peak bloom: this month brought 10 new reports. With its growing technological ecosystem and research community, CSET explored India’s AI developmental capabilities. We published a series on AI safety with three installments identifying errors in machine learning systems and establishing proper safety measures. Reflecting on the history of Stealth aircraft technology, we assessed how it can help develop new technologies. China was a hot topic for our experts this month: our latest data brief analyzed the increasing volume of AI research by China’s security forces using new analytic methods. We also released a policy brief analyzing China’s semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, created an overview of China’s use of government guidance funds and reviewed Chinese university relationships with Advanced Persistent Threat hacking teams.
