Anicca Harriot is a AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow placed at Georgetown University’s Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET). Her research covers the intersections of artificial intelligence and biotechnology. Prior to joining CSET, Anicca conducted research as a postdoctoral research fellow at Johns Hopkins University’s department of Biomedical Engineering. There her work focused on alternatives to animal testing in aging and spaceflight biomedicine, situated across the spectrum of biomanufacturing and US regulatory policy. Anicca also serves as the Executive Director of the volunteer-led initiative, VanguardSTEM, which amplifies the expertise of women of color in STEM through digital media production. Anicca received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Maryland, School of Medicine with a focus on Integrated Muscle Biology; she also holds a B.S. in Biophysical Sciences from Regent University.
