We are seeking applications for an artificial intelligence (AI) / machine learning (ML) Fellow, Senior Fellow, and/or Distinguished Fellow to support CSET’s efforts in producing research and policy recommendations on the security implications of emerging technologies.
The AI/ML fellow will work alongside a team of data scientists, engineers, translators, political scientists, lawyers, and analysts. The AI/ML Fellow will provide the team with technical subject matter expertise to inform policy discussions, contribute to technical analysis, and conduct research in relevant areas of AI/ML. A fundamental understanding of current AI/ML research areas is essential, and interest in working with and building aggregated data streams and a knowledge graph of AI/ML activity worldwide is a plus. CSET is building a multilingual knowledge graph from 50-100M unique scientific literature records, funding data, investment transactions, application references, survey data, and more. As such, the ideal candidate has built and trained deep neural networks with over 1 billion parameters for natural language processing (NLP) applications.
Candidates must hold at least a Master’s degree (Ph.D. degree and related work experience is preferred) in computer science or related field. In addition to academic and technical qualifications, the ideal candidate must demonstrate aptitude for tailoring explanations of technical concepts to policy or other audiences.
Depending on candidate skill and interest, the role might entail production of written research outputs directed at policymakers and/or the deployment of NLP ML methods in service of CSET’s mission.
Please apply for this role via CSET’s regular Research Fellow application form, highlight your interest in the AI/ML Fellow role, and be sure to indicate your research interests in your cover letter. You can find the job description for regular Research Fellows immediately above this posting.
